Who, What & Where

First of all, WELCOME! I'll introduce myself. I'm Tanliel. You may know me from such servers as Veeshan, or lately, Luclin. I'm a bard in that wonderful world of Norrath. Been singing there for quite some time now and plan to keep doing so. I thought I'd put down on, well, "paper", some of the musings that I've had and try to keep a better record of what I've been up to with my friends and families in Everquest (EQ).

So, a little background on Tanliel: Created during the 4th beta phase of EverQuest in the sleepy habitat of Qeynos, witnessed the gods reigning (and crushing the mortals) during the final hours of beta and was then reborn on Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at 18:48:19.

Spent a little time exploring near Qeynos, but a couple friend and I decided that the world was greener WAY over the hills near Freeport. Deciding that we knew exactly what we were doing (ah, hindsight) we set off with my recent acquisition of a song which enhanced the groups run speed. Flying over the countryside, dragging my group through forested areas, rife with wildlife ... okay, so that run didn't end so well. We got eaten. Lions and bears cannot let a free meal pass by so easily. Over the next 3 days, and yes I'm talking about 3 real time days, we finally made it all the way to Freeport and then got "bound"^[1] there.

Things proceeded from there with more hunting of the wildlife that had preyed upon us as young and impressionable adventurers. We acquired treasure and equipment looted from the evil denizens who sought to do us in. We got better at what we should be doing and left behind most of the things that we shouldn't.

I can still remember with awe stepping out beyond the tunnel from East Commonlands into the glaring sun over the desert sands of Ro. We were scared. Things looked large and menacing. We were in over our heads. We explored more, learned more.

Today, I can look back at what has gone before, fondly, with great emotion swelling in my breast. I did almost nothing alone. I have built fantastic friendships, helped to grow and nurture one of the finest guilds that Norrath has seen, and gone raiding with myriad peoples to much success.

I hope to show those who choose to read my missives what we are presently doing in Norrath. The majority of my time will be spent raiding, exploring the content designed for the powerful characters at the "end" portion of the game. Though truly it is named EVERQuest for a reason. There is always something to do, somewhere I've not seen, some encounter to be bested, a puzzle to be solved ...
